The last day of a trip should be awesome, special, memorable. By late morning on our last day I was feeling anxious as our plans kept falling apart! Chris had looked up a town named Ponce. Reviews were great and we thought we were in for a fun-filled day there. First we arrived at the board walk. It was as if the circus had come and left...years ago! We saw two other living souls passing by. So, on we headed to the water park/theme park. It was eerily quiet. Come to find out, it actually did shut down FIVE YEARS AGO!! We headed back to the car, hoping we could find a beach some random woman had recommended to us before the day was too far gone, and my sandle broke. I'd packed no other shoes for our day trip. Gratefully, K-Mart, a few towns away, remedied that problem and we continued our beach search.
We drove on a somewhat questionable road into the coastal wilderness and finally found Cana Gorde Beach. What do you know? The entrance was locked. No one to be found. We drove a little further and saw, I kid you not, what looked like a beautiful mirage in the middle of an ugly, unkempt landscape. It was Capomarina Beach- a small, gorgeous private resort. They let us enter the beach through their property. The water was as clear, blue, and warm as ever. We rented sea kayaks from the resort and paddled out to Giligan's Island. It was an incredible site and good workout. The snorkeling there would have been great! Sadly, we didn't take our cameras on this excursion. We really should have purchased a water proof camera! We ate our final meal of the vacation at their outdoor restaurant. Of course, it included fried plantains! Our last day was definitely awesome and special, and that's a day I won't likely forget!

So, yeah. We didn't document this day in photos. Here you get the awesome parking lot scenery of the resort just before we left. And my awesome hair. Take my word for it- the place was breath taking! |
Day 8
We traveled home and retrieved our babies!! Thomas was thrilled to see us. Evy didn't recognize me and reached for my sister Michele. Wow. Surprisingly, this gave me comfort knowing that my kids were happy for a week without their parents. And Evy is clingier than ever to her dear old ma now, so I'm not worried about any loss of love there. What a wonderful week. So worth it.
