Travelers, Set-backs, Moving Forward...slowly

Travelers:
Chris had been planning to visit family this weekend for a while. I had wanted to go too, but we decided I better stay home with Thomas since we would be traveling in a week and he might go a little bonkers being away a lot. Somehow, this week, we decided (it was my idea) to send Thomas with Chris anyway, and surprise family.I still couldn't go because now the tickets were WAY too expensive for a 2 day/1 night trip. Bummer.
While disappointed to be missing out on the trip, I was excited to have time to myself and to work on our cabinets-no interruptions!! Thomas is finally able to survive without nursing all the time. I found myself feeling really sad though that he might return Sunday night and my milk could be gone and he would have to be fully weened. I've loved this time with my baby boy, and he loves it, too. Anyway, mushy lady moving on.

Set-backs:
Thomas must have a magical ability to sense change in his life. Last night, of course, the night before he travels, I couldn't get him to sleep 'til 9:30. He woke up at 2am and went back to bed at 4am, and we had to get him up by 5:20 to get to the airport. Good luck, Chris! and yay for me getting 3 hours of sleep last night!
6am I started to set up shop for actually painting the cabinets. The doors were in stacks due to a crazy storm that caused us to move our cars in the garage for fear of hail damage. I went to lay them all out this morning and...they were stuck together. Basically, the primer pulled and now I am sanding and re-priming the damage on 19 of the cabinet doors. I sat in the middle of our garage for about 5 minutes and contemplated a good cry. I was too tired.

Moving Forward:
It's 8:06am. I can't publish this post until after Chris surprises his parents...just in case they happen upon the blog. I still have the day ahead of me to work with no interruptions (minus a nap, hopefully). Slowly, but surely, the job will get done.

Happy Things:
In the next couple weeks: my sister will be married and moved to Parker (a 3 minute drive from my house)!
Chris' brother, Jake, will be in the MTC, learning Chinese and preparing to serve the people of Australia! I've never really had a missionary in the family to write (I was 4 when Ryan went) and am really excited.
We will spend 5 days with family and friends and celebrate the 4th of July!
It's my brother Ryan's birthday. He's 39, I believe. My family is getting old. I like it though.
Our garden is producing lots of great things!
We live in an awesome place surrounded by so many people that we love.
Life is good, but I might try that nap now.

10:04 am: Napped for about an hour. A little sleep goes a long way and I'm feeling ready to take on the day. My father-in-law called to say thanks for sending my two boys. :) I think they will have a lot of fun. I love to think of Chris toting Thomas through airport security. Too cute.
