Scenarios

As Chris would say, "Did you guys have any 'scenarios' today?" Yes, he lovingly mocks me for creating supposed learning experiences for our children. The truth is, I'm only trying to get out of the house if at all possible a few times a week...there's just something nice about leaving home and not worrying about certain messes, weeds, dinner, or whatever I think needs to be done.

Today's 'scenario': The Littleton Museum

We ran, played hide and seek, dressed up, explored, saw animals, got super sweaty in the 90 plus degree weather, admired history, and enjoyed the fact that it was free.

 Other 'Scenarios': At Home

Alright, some experiences we don't have to leave the house for them to feel like adventurous excursions. Number one, putting the kids to bed. Chris is pretty dedicated in his efforts to get Thomas to sleep. Thomas sneaks books (like sometimes I'll come in in the morning and find about 10) into bed. We tried the take-the-books-out-of-the-room method, but it back fired. He screamed and screamed and screamed, "BOOOOOOOKKKK!!" Honestly, I felt for him. I love to read before bed to wind down. Evy, not to be outdone by her brother, often screams before bed as well, not always though. She's a sweet little thing.

Play time at home. Love this happy little one.

Cooking at home. Along with a cot, Chris received "Lidia's Favorite Recipes" cook book for Father's Day. He kind of loves her.  We went to town on  a few recipes last week! While the kitchen was a disaster, the food was awesome! (pizza, parm. chicken, and zucchini roll-ups).

 Tommy's favorite 'scenario': "Drewby house?"

Thomas loves going to his cousins' house. There's always an abundance of toys, screaming, running, dancing, good movies, food, and this last time they even made puppets!

 Yesterday's 'scenario': Belleview Park

We met up with Kinzie and Calum for this one. It included a train ride that passed around the park and through a tunnel. Thomas yelled, "CHOO CHOOOO!" a good portion of the ride; a petting zoo where the kiddos even milked a cow; a play ground; and a creek for wading, splashing, and digging. Even though he hated getting rocks in his sandles...and walking, for that matter, Thomas had a lot of fun. Evy, quietly rode in my pack, took in the sites, and probably slept as we explored.

Now we can't wait for the 4th of July and a whole lot more 'scenarios'!!

Haha -- "scenarios."

But yes, getting out of the house is fun! The Littleton Museum is one of my favorites (free!).

I love that Thomas wants books in his bed, and I say, yes, keep 'em there! All of my kids (minus the one-month-old, who has no opinion yet) take books to bed with them. Logan likes to drop his from the top bunk when he's done with them (somehow Josh sleeps through that!). Abby insists on about ten books in her bed with her every night and I often find her "reading" to herself in the morning.

Littleton Museum has always been one of my favorites too! Especially in the fall during the harvest festival!
