Birthday Boy

Today, the littlest love of my life is one year old. It will be a day full of eating, playing, sleeping, baths,  and tons of kisses.

His birthday morning:
Birthday Breakfast: Thomas has lately been refusing his favorite foods, including bananas! This morning, he threw them all on the floor. However today, he can have whatever he wants. He never turns down cold, juicy watermelon.
Birthday Bath #1
Thomas is 1 for 5 on baths today. FIVE baths in one day??! Yes, little man had surgery on his "little man" on Monday. The rest of the month will include many, MANY baths to help this boy heal all up.
A little etch-a-sketch with Daddy before heading to the operating room.
Post Op: Saltines never tasted so good!

Thomas was in great spirits before and after surgery. Well, right after he was pretty cranky probably because he'd been fasting for 10 hours and his legs felt all tingly from his epidural. He devoured his bottle and 4 saltines. Then we just wanted to take him home. So, we did. Chris worked from home. Thomas and I slept most of the afternoon away.

We sure love this boy. (Oh dear, I'm tearing up as I type). We love the way he bounces up and down and sways his booty when he dances. We love his wheezy laugh. We love the way mom and dad can't cuddle unless he cuddles, too. We love the way he pretends to talk on the phone. We love that he is busy, active, and curious. Mostly, we love that he is happy.

Before I just put him down for a nap, Thomas spent about 5 minutes holding my face, giving my kisses, and laughing. Happy Birthday, Little Lover! You've already made this day special for me.

This afternoon, he will celebrate by hanging out with his adoring cousins and aunt while I go on our youth temple trip. (Don't think I've mentioned that I LOVE that my sister lives here now!!) Then I'm sure Chris will spoil him until I get home tonight. We'll have his real celebration in a couple weeks with friends and family when T is all healed up. Maybe we'll just celebrate all month long...I'm pretty sure I had some birthdays that lasted a few weeks growing up. Thanks Doug and Billie! There's nothing wrong with spoiling your favorite child now and again. :)
